About
Hi, my name is Sue Mason. I am a certified Sacred Passage End of Life Doula and Educator from the Conscious Dying Institute. I help empower individuals and their families to cultivate more agency and purpose as they navigate often unexpected challenges with aging and end of life.
As an End of Life Doula, I coach and motivate people to engage in the often uncomfortable and complicated topic of our impermanence. The goal of this work is to establish feeling less discomfort around death and dying and to share information about available resources that can provide comfort during this often unpredictable and emotional time. I collaborate with clients to create personalized plans that establish a sense of control as they experience this next phase in their life. Together we can create a plan that identifies and prioritizes areas in your life that are important to you so you can ensure a meaningful, supportive life moving forward.
I would be honored to work with you.

My Experience
I became an End of Life Doula after having the privilege of helping my dearest friend navigate her life from her initial cancer diagnosis to her bedside as she took her last breath. Through this experience, I gained a new understanding of the type of support individuals experiencing death need. They need information, a safe and sacred space to acknowledge a new reality, someone to talk to who can engage in uncomfortable conversations without judgment, and unconditional love and care. I believe people deserve to feel dignified, loved, and honored as they embrace the certainty of their own death and courageously begin to plan their death experience.
I have experience facilitating both in-person and virtually.
My Approach
As a culture, we go to great lengths to avoid acknowledging the reality of death. I believe unnecessary grief, sadness, and anxiety appear when we are unprepared for and uneducated about death. I also know there can be joy, clarity, and contentment with death. Working with the aging and dying population within “the death positive movement,” I feel a fierce sense of responsibility. My purpose is to help people prepare for and have the best experience possible at a time when they are asked to do the bravest thing yet: die.
I want to build a community that stewards conscious death for ourselves, our families, friends, and neighbors. I believe with thoughtful conversation, information, and guidance, people and their families can feel empowered, at peace, and truly cared for at the time of their death.
I am honored to continue this journey of helping people create meaningful death experiences for themselves and their families.
Why Death Reimagined
When we are given life, we are also given death. Being an End of Life Doula is not just about death – it’s more about life.
I am passionate about being with people at their bedside to coach, support, and provide comfort as they courageously ‘let go’. But I am also passionate about meeting people exactly where they are in their lives and having conversations around preparing for the inevitable – death. The road from now to that time is different for each person. What do they want? What will they need? How can they feel empowered along the way of navigating the unknown, unpredictable, unfamiliar?
Death Reimagined is inviting people to explore their current beliefs, expectations, and assumptions about Death, and most importantly, their own death. Through doing this, we can live each day with more clarity of purpose, connection, and comfort. Imagine living with less fear, anxiety and having more control over what you want and need as you near the inevitable…the end of life.
